How To Retrace Your Steps On Iphone

Have you got a new phone and want to take your steps in StepsApp with you from your old phone? No problem, here is a guide on what you have to do if you want to continue using StepsApp on your new phone without losing data or losing steps. We will also show you how to reactivate your purchased Pro subscription.

Before you start, it is important that your step data is completely available on the old phone in Apple Health. Check this directly in the Apple Health app.

  • Open Apple Health
  • Click on Steps
  • Scroll down and Show All Data
  • Check whether all data is available

Step 1: Install the latest StepsApp Version from the App Store on your new iPhone

  • Open the App Store
  • Search for StepsApp
  • Install the latest version of StepsApp

Important: Use the same Apple iD as on the old phone.

Step 2: Open StepsApp, set up everything and restore your subscription purchase

  • Open StepsApp
  • Allow access to "Motion & Fitness"
  • Click on "Get Started"
  • Next is the subscription screen. You can either use the free version, buy a subscription or restore the subscription you have already purchased.
  • To restore your purchase tab on the top right button "Restore"

Step 3: Import your steps data from Apple Health

To restore your old data or if you use an Garmin, Polar, Suunto or other fitness and sports watches you can import this data into StepsApp with Apple Health Import or Apple Health Sync.

  • Go to the Settings in StepsApp
  • Click on Apple Health
  • Import now (make sure that the necessary permissions has been enabled in the settings of Apple Health -> Settings / Privacy -> Apps -> StepsApp -> Turn On All)

In general your iPhone and your Apple Watch each track your steps independently. By default you see the steps tracked by your Apple Watch on your Apple Watch, and steps tracked by your iPhone on your iPhone. If you want the steps to be combined, you have to enable Apple Health Sync.

Troubles by importing your data?

Check these steps if you have any trouble!
